About Jessica
I grew up spending much of my childhood playing in and around the waters of Grimes Cove in East Boothbay. Some of my fondest memories are searching in tidal pools for critters with my dad, seaweed fights with my neighborhood friends, camping on Outer Heron Island, fishing, and searching for shells in the sand with my mom.
My love and respect for the ocean only grew when I started to scuba dive years later. Diving allowed me to explore Maine from a whole new perspective. I couldn’t believe how different the coast was underwater compared to the shoreline. Looking at the water, I would be struck by curiosity of what was below. I couldn’t wait to explore the cold dark water below to see what I could find. Every time I dived I was overcome with awe, passion, and wonder as I was submerged in this unique universe. My desire to share the beauty beneath the sea with others lead me to underwater photography.
Photography gave me a creative outlet and a way to show everyone this amazing other world under the sea. It has been my greatest joy in life, exploring and photographing this untapped, unique beauty of Maine.
I have traveled around the world to dive and train with some of the best underwater photographers in the world. My scuba diving travels have brought me to amazing places such as the Caribbean, Mexico, Maldives, Philippines, French Polynesia, and Indonesia. I continue to travel, train, learn, and grow as a photographer.
For photography equipment I use a Nikon D500 camera body in a Sea & Sea MDXD500 underwater housing with multiple lenses.
I hope you enjoy my photographs as much as I enjoyed taking them. I hope they bring you joy and ignite wonder and respect for the ocean as the experiences did for me.
